Volunteering at ADWAS

Internships at ADWAS
ADWAS also offers internship opportunities for students or individuals seeking hands-on experience in a Deaf-led agency supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Interns are invited to learn about advocacy, community engagement, administrative support, and the philosophy of empowerment.
Internships follow a similar process as volunteering and require a commitment to ADWAS’s mission and values. ASL fluency or ongoing ASL learning is strongly preferred.

Direct Service Department (Non-Direct Service Duties)
- Filing (organizing, purging, creating new blank files)
- Organizing (food bags, supplies, non-monetary donations)
- Assist with projects, planning, and events
- Find and create housing resources
- Assist with cleaning and organizing the emergency shelter
- Assist with the children’s camps (summer only)
- Other duties as needed
Building Department
- Painting
- Landscaping
- Cleaning

Development Department
- Assist at fundraising events
- Interpreting at fundraising events
- Assist with mailing letters and flyers
- Assist with decorating
- Perform a wide range of duties and activities
