ADWAS

Thank you for your interest in ADWAS CODA Summer Camp 2024. My name is Nancy. I am a Children’s Advocate and the Camp Director for our CODA Olympics Challenge Camp this year. With limited options for CODA kids to have a camp experience with other kids that sign, this camp gives CODA kids from all over the Pacific Northwest a chance to come together, bond over their common experiences build lifetime friendships and have fun in the summer!

Our summer camp is stationed here at ADWAS: 8623 Roosevelt Way NE Seattle, WA 98115, we will be going on some fun field trips and have fun during the week with our Olympic theme, perfect to get them excited about the Paris Games that will be televised from July 26-Aug. 11th.

Every day parents drop off their child and sign them in. Camp starts at 9:00 AM. and it ends at 5:00pm. We will provide 2 snacks and lunch, transportation to and from field trips every day and it’s all free!

Just like Olympians that challenge themselves to try new things and be the best they can be, we will challenging the campers to get out of their comfort zone and try something they may have not tried before. Climbing on a ropes course, ziplining and learning a new sport. They will get a chance to work together to solve challenging puzzles and do team building exercises.

Our camp is staffed by volunteers that are Deaf, CODA or hearing but know ASL. We do background checks on all camp counselors and they are all trained by ADWAS. All counselors have background experience with kids and camp. This is a signing camp, giving them a chance to improve their sign by using it in different environments other than home.

Please complete the online registration and sign all waivers and permission slips provided. I’d be happy to answer any questions.
